PACIFIC RIM HOSTELS  This organization of independent hostels in Canada, The US and Mexico maintains a great website of hostels along the Pacific Coast of North America. The site has a lot of great links and other helpful info.


BHC/ABC This is a loose network of independent (from HI) hostels/budget accommodation across Canada. Its aim is to promote independent hostels across Canada and, to some extent, in the US and Mexico. Dedicated to freestyle travel. An inexpensive companion handbook for traveling on a budget in Europe. It contains listings for almost 1000 inexpensive places to stay throughout Europe.

A membership organization of cyclists. The association researches, maps, and leads tours on Long-distance bicycle touring routes in the US and Canada. The National Bicycle Route Network consists of over 33,000 miles including the TransAmerica Route and the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route. This is a great guide to the Independent Hostels of New Zealand – over 320 hostels in all. They offer a BBH Club Card for $40 NZ which has a lot of discounts. An association of over 130 independent hostels located throughout Scotland and its islands. Most of the hostels are privately owned and the majority are family run. They provide a good standard of accommodation at a fair price in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and no membership is required. Most of the hostels are open year-round but check first during the winter months. All hostels are independently inspected to ensure they reach our standards.
